Director of Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Management:
  Lead and manage the Engineering team, including supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
• Oversee daily maintenance operations, preventive maintenance programs, and emergency repairs.
• Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems are fully functional and regularly inspected.
• Maintain the hotel’s physical condition and appearance, including rooms, public areas, back of house, and exterior.
• Project & Asset Management:
  Plan and execute capital projects, renovations, and upgrades in line with hotel standards and budgets.
• Maintain accurate asset records and ensure equipment is serviced and replaced on schedule.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors to ensure quality work and compliance.
• Safety & Compliance:
  Ensure all operations comply with local regulations, fire codes, health and safety standards, and brand requirements.
• Oversee regular testing of life-safety systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, etc.).
• Lead property risk assessments and support security and crisis response plans.
• Financial Management:
  Prepare and manage the Engineering department budget, including CAPEX and OPEX.
• Control energy consumption and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Monitor procurement, inventory, and vendor contracts for efficiency.
• Team Leadership:
  Train, coach, and develop Engineering staff to maintain high performance and safety awareness.
• Create duty rosters and ensure adequate coverage for 24/7 operations.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and other departments to address maintenance needs promptly.
• Support the General Manager and Executive Committee with technical expertise and reporting.
• Assist in preparing documentation for audits, inspections, and brand assessments.

• Degree or diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Management preferred).
• 5–8+ years of engineering leadership experience in hospitality or facilities management.
• Strong understanding of building systems, energy management, and preventive maintenance.
• Proven project management and budgeting experience.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and manage high-pressure situations.
