Job Purpose

The Database Administrator (DBA) will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of the organization's databases. This position involves overseeing database installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance, as well as monitoring and troubleshooting to support analytics and business processes. The DBA will work closely with the data engineering and analytics teams to ensure high availability, data integrity, and compliance with data governance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain SQL Server, Postgre

    SQL, MySQL, or equivalent databases.
  • Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance, including queries, indexing, partitioning, and replication.
  • Manage backups, restores, disaster recovery procedures, and ensure high availability.
  • Implement and enforce data security, access controls, and governance policies.
  • Quickly troubleshoot and resolve database issues to minimize downtime.
  • Support data migration projects across various environments such as on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid setups.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all database configurations and operations.
  • Work with healthcare databases, including clinical database schemas and medical imaging storage solutions (PACS/DICOM).

    SQL databases for managing unstructured health data, and time‑series databases for patient monitoring.
  • Demonstrate experience with UAE data residency requirements and local compliance mandates.
  • Full Hands on with MS Fabric or Azure Data Ecosystem, Lakehouse is key.

  • Adhere to regulatory and compliance standards including UAE Health Data Law, ADHICS, and internal data security protocols.
  • Ensure data privacy, backup, disaster recovery, and database access control measures are in place and aligned with best practices.
  • Maintain documentation that supports compliance audits and IT governance requirements.

  • 7–10 years of proven experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Must have a minimum of 2–3 years of healthcare experience.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with SQL Server, Postgre

    SQL, or MySQL administration.
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with cloud database services such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, and similar platforms.
  • Thorough knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong understanding of database security and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Power Shell, Bash, or Python is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office‑based in Abu Dhabi, with occasional flexibility for remote troubleshooting or after‑hours maintenance.
