The Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Manager - Backend Engineering to lead and grow our backend engineering team. This role involves overseeing the development of robust, scalable, and secure backend solutions while fostering a high-performance engineering culture. At this role, you will play a critical role in driving project success, mentoring engineers, and ensuring that all technical deliverables align with organizational goals and customer needs.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and team productivity to meet business objectives.
Create a culture of continuous improvement, promoting upskilling and adoption of best practices.
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of backend systems, ensuring high performance and scalability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, align on goals, and deliver high-quality solutions.
Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitor systems for performance optimization.
Drive engineering best practices, including code reviews, architecture discussions, and technology standards.
Collaborate with product managers and designers to define project requirements and timelines.
Drive the implementation of new features and improvements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Own the team's roadmap and continuously improve the development process.
Act as the liaison between the frontend team and other stakeholders.
Ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.
Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
Stay informed on emerging technologies and development trends, applying them to drive innovation and technical excellence.
Comply with QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management and Governance of Organizations policies, procedures, plans and related risk assessments.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
Expertise in designing and maintaining high-performance, low-latency backend systems in Java, Golang, Python or similar technologies.
In-depth knowledge of databases (Mongo
DB, MySQL, Postgre
SQL) and modern architecture patterns like microservices and event-driven systems.
Familiarity with distributed systems, hybrid cloud environments, Docker, and tools like Kafka and Elastic Search.
Skilled in implementing automated testing platforms, CI/CD, and Dev Ops practices.
