The United Arab Emirates (UAE) covered by the Regional Office (RO) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is one of the founding Member countries of GGGI and currently serves as a Member of its Council, GGGI’s executive organ presided by His Excellency Ban Ki‑Moon, the 8th Secretary‑General of the United Nations. GGGI’s UAE Program based in Abu Dhabi – with a physical presence in Dubai as well – is scaling up its activities to deliver a multi‑year cooperation program with the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCC.sm)

AL along with various national and international stakeholders. The GGGI UAE Office is supported by a Host Country Agreement with MOCCAE. GGGI also has an active collaboration with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) in the form of an MoU, in addition to other MOUs with key partners from academia and NGOs, to support Climate Planning, MRV, Air Quality, and ESG.

Based in Dubai at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MO.cool) the Senior Climate Action Officer will be in charge of leading the climate change adaptation related efforts under UAE country program, in addition to providing substantive inputs and analyses to the development, delivery, and assessment of work programs and activities at country level; organizing program activities across green growth planning especially National Adaptation Planning, capacity building and country specific knowledge development for effective result deliveries under biannual/annual program plans;

maintaining effective program reporting and communication internally and externally in line with GGGI corporate policies, standards and protocols.

• Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance to support the UAE’s climate change adaptation agenda at national and sub‑national levels.
• Support the development and implementation of evidence‑based adaptation priorities aligned with national development objectives.
• Advise government partners on climate change adaptation and ​green growth policies in line with international best practicesrita prom.
• Promote the effective application of adaptation frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
• Lead the efforts of conducting climate risk and vulnerability্ট assessments (CRVA).
• Lead the efforts and contribute to the development of the UAE NAP.

• Advise Country Team and Representative with evidence and data driven inputs/analyses on program activity development, implementation and assessment.
• Collaborate with other country teams, units and divisions of GGGI on identified joint activity opportunities to ensure integrated delivery as “One GGGI”
• Maintain active professional relations with partner governments and other key stakeholders to capture/integrate their changing green growth needs and manage their expectations.
• Promote green growth and the GGGI methodology with the donor community and other stakeholders.
• Advise GGGI on opportunities for engagement in the national context, demonstrating effective adoption of the GGGI approach.

• Identify project delivery issues and ensure effective coordination of project activities/resources for the attainment of objectives against established time frames.
• Develop Project execution modality and documents across project management cycle per country.
• High‑quality technical outputs such as policy briefs, tools, and methodologies for adaptation planning.
• Effective stakeholder engagement ensuring government ownership and donor confidence.
• Timely and accurate reporting of program activities and results to internal and external audiences.
• Capacity buildingorries knowledge sharing through workshops and consultations aligned with annual work plans.
• Risk management and adaptive improvements based on lessons learned and evolving priorities.
• Organize program activities including policy consultation, validation meetings, workshops, and capacity building programs based on yearly/biannual work programs and budget plans.
• Comprehensive NAP implementation including vulnerability assessment, costing, and integration with Emirate‑level plans.
