Head of Accounting; UAE National

We are supporting a leading UAE-based institution in the appointment of a Head of Accounting to oversee and manage all general accounting operations in accordance with UAE and International Accounting Standards, as well as internal policies and procedures.

This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the organisation’s financial records, while supporting statutory reporting, audit requirements, and strong financial governance frameworks.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining high-quality financial controls, overseeing reporting processes, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and organisational standards.

• Oversee the verification and review of expenditure documentation to ensure compliance with approved contracts, agreements, and internal policies prior to final approval
• Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of all financial transactions in line with UAE and International Accounting Standards
• Manage receivables, accounts payable, and general ledger functions to maintain accurate and timely financial reporting
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with applicable standards
• Oversee monthly reconciliation processes across general ledger and sub‑ledgers, investigating and resolving variances
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation processes
• Oversee capital expenditure accounting, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and proper financial treatment
• Support and coordinate internal and external audit processes, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements and internal procedures

• 9‑12 years of relevant accounting experience within a regulated or structured environment
• Strong knowledge of UAE and International Accounting Standards
• Proven experience managing general ledger, reconciliations, and financial close processes
• Strong understanding of financial governance, compliance, and audit support
• Professional certifications such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, ACA, CFA, or equivalent are preferred
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
