Role OverviewThe Risk team plays a critical role in safeguarding Wio’s merchant acquiring ecosystem by balancing growth with robust fraud and operational risk controls. We are seeking a Risk Analyst – Merchant Acquiring to strengthen our acquiring risk framework and support the safe scaling of Wio Pay.
This role focuses on transaction monitoring, merchant underwriting, and fraud risk strategy within the UAE acquiring market. You will work closely with product, data analytics, and operations teams to identify emerging risks, optimize controls, and maintain compliance with card network and regulatory standards.
What you’ll be doing Merchant Acquiring Risk Management- Own day‑to‑day merchant acquiring risk monitoring across the UAE market
- Evaluate payment acceptance risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Manage merchant underwriting reviews based on risk assessments and site visit reports
- Configure and optimize fraud monitoring rules within FRM tools
- Analyze transaction trends, alerts, and fraud patterns to refine controls
- Collaborate with data analytics teams to enhance transaction monitoring frameworks
- Ensure compliance with card network programs and monitoring frameworks (e.g., VIRP, MATCH, VMTS, MCC)
- Monitor and manage risks related to card‑not‑present transactions
- Support investigations into suspicious merchant activity and define corrective actions
- Aggregate data from multiple sources to perform comprehensive risk assessments
- Develop management reports and dashboards with actionable insights
- Present findings to stakeholders and recommend improvements
- Contribute to the design of risk strategies aligned with business growth objectives
- Strengthen internal risk processes supporting a customer‑first approach
- Partner with cross-functional teams to embed risk controls into acquiring workflows
- 5–8 years of experience in merchant acquiring risk or payments risk management
- Minimum 3 years managing acquiring fraud and risk processes
- Hands‑on experience with fraud risk management (FRM) platforms
- Strong understanding of UAE merchant acquiring risk landscape
- Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard compliance programs (VIRP, MATCH, VMTS, MCC)
- Knowledge of card‑not‑present transaction risk frameworks
- Analytical mindset with strong data interpretation capabilities
- Ability to conduct merchant investigations and risk assessments
- Proficiency in preparing management presentations and reporting
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills
