- Financial operations management – Ensure adequate controls are in place and reviewed on a regular basis, implement processes and controls to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness. Oversee financial processes related to both acquiring and issuing services ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Cost management – Analyse financial data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement controls in coordination with team leads. Review and add effective controls to minimise operational cost associated to issuing and acquiring process.
- Card scheme billing and fee management – Manage card scheme billings and fee lines effectively, ensuring accurate reconciliation and timely payments. Stay updated with changes in card scheme regulations and fee structures and adjust financial operations accordingly.
- Team Leadership – Lead and mentor a team of payment professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence. Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Risk Management and Compliance – Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with issuing and acquiring services, ensuring compliance with requirements and industry standards. Implement robust controls and procedures to safeguard financial assets and maintain data integrity.
- Ensure financial processing entries are prepared and processed in accurate manner with accurate booking of Income & Expenses into respective P&L accounts for issuing & acquiring processes.
- Ensure the GL account reconciliations under the financial operations unit ownership are reviewed regularly and exceptions are cleared on time as per the defined process.
- Preparation of monthly provisions of vendor expenses, write‑offs, loyalty & scheme charges for issuing & acquiring processes in co‑ordination with Group Finance.
- Ensure completion of monthly AOV on the substantiation of account balances to GFCD.
- Implement effective controls within financial operations processes to avoid/eliminate any potential financial impact due to unforeseen circumstances.
- Ensure the financial operations team is well trained/updated on the changing payments landscape and ensure processes reviews are in place to align with the changes implemented by card scheme/organisation.
- Manage the financial operations team effectively by creating strong backups through cross training & job rotations and by eliminating person dependencies in operational processes.
- Support new projects from Finance and Operational perspective.
- Ensure integrity of operational accounting processes and procedures aligning to organisational P&L structure and reporting requirements.
- Build robust controls and monitoring mechanisms for implementation of new issuing and acquiring services.
- Create process documents and have regular updates done to ensure processes are documented, kept updated with relevant process controls and risk mitigants.
- Work closely with Finance team to ensure timely inputs are provided and operational processes are amended to cater for any organisational level changes in financial accounting and reporting.
- Support internal & external Audit to ensure adherence with the accounting principles.
- Strong understanding of card scheme settlement structures, billings and fee lines, with the ability to interpret and analyse data.
- Proven track record for delivery of issuing & acquiring projects with card schemes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint etc.
- Well‑developed interpersonal, problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Excellent leadership skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to cope with and thrive in a non‑routine environment and think creatively.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards applicable to financial operations.
- Exceptional communicational skills, both verbal and written with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting or related fields.
- Certifications (preferably Card Scheme Certification).
Minimum of 8+ years of working experience in a financial operations management, preferably within the payment industry.
