Overview
Job Title: Senior Officer - Payables (22J25). This role is pivotal in maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization. The Senior Officer - Payables manages accounts payable functions, ensuring expenditures are accurate, timely, and in compliance with financial regulations. The role involves overseeing invoice processing, vendor account reconciliations, and preparation of regular financial reports. The position requires implementing process improvements to streamline payables operations and collaborating with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
The successful candidate contributes to the organization’s financial planning and fiscal health.
- Oversee and manage the accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Reconcile vendor statements promptly and address discrepancies effectively.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless processing of expenses and invoices.
- Prepare and review financial reports relating to accounts payable activities.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in the accounts payable cycle.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Communicate with vendors to handle queries and resolve payment disputes.
- Ensure all payments to vendors are made in accordance with contracted terms.
- Analyze payables data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Monitor cash flow projections and assist in optimizing working capital management.
- Keep abreast of changes in financial legislation and standards.
- Train and guide team members in accounts payable procedures and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or payables management.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance issues.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven track record of process improvement and implementation in payables processing.
