HVAC engineer

HVAC Engineer with proven experience in design and specification of HVAC systems. Their role involves creating and reviewing designs, coordinating with other disciplines such as architects, electrical engineers, construction contractors and vendors while ensuring projects meet quality and safety standards. Proficiency in HVAC software and international standards like ASHRAE is required, along with exposure to Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, and onshore/offshore brownfield work.

Experience in FEED, detailed engineering, and conceptual work on medium to large scale projects in the Middle East is mandatory. ADNOC experience will be an added advantage. The position is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

• Excellent knowledge of standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.
• Hands‑on knowledge of design software like Carrier HAP.
• Hands‑on knowledge of equipment selection including chillers, packaged and split systems, air handlers, pumps, fans, cooling towers, etc.
• Familiarity with the latest engineering and analytical techniques/software as applicable.

• Design and review heat‑load calculations using HAP following ASHRAE standards, ventilation calculations, pressure‑drop calculations for ducting and piping, duct sizing, pipe sizing, etc., and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g., HAP, AutoCAD).
• Prepare design basis, datasheets, technical specifications, technical requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
• Follow up on the technical scope of work with vendors and review technical submittals, drawings, method statements, etc.
• Review and ensure compliance with project specifications, ASHRAE, and local authority standards.
• Estimate capacity and size.
• Design and select AC equipment, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, PACUs, ducted split units, and extract fans.
• Design duct systems using the Equal Friction method.
• Perform duct and pipe sizing, air‑flow diagrams, D&’s, cause‑and‑effect diagrams.
• Apply HVAC control philosophies and ducting layouts.
• Review post‑order contractor/supplier documents.
• Provide inputs and guidance for HVAC modelers. Working knowledge of modelling software such as E3D, S3D, and Navisworks is desirable.
• Independently estimate bill of quantities for bulks such as ducting, dampers, registers, and other accessories.
• Manage material requisition (MR), request for quotation (RFQ)/technical queries (TQ), and material take‑off.

• 8–10 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution.

Relevant experience in the Middle East.
