About the Role:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This role involves leading the mechanical design and analysis of advanced SATCOM and RF systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Solid Works, thermal and structural simulations, and a deep understanding of materials and fabrication techniques. Key Responsibilities:

Design and Modeling:

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs using Solid Works, including models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
• Create high-quality renderings and visual representations to support product development and client presentations.

Simulation and Analysis:

• Use simulation tools to conduct thermal, structural, and stress analysis to ensure designs meet operational requirements, including thermal cycling and vibration tolerance.

Fabrication and Manufacturing:

• Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to oversee the fabrication of mechanical components, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
• Optimize designs for manufacturability, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with industry standards.

Compliance and Standards:

• Design mechanical systems in adherence to industry standards such as MIL-STD 810 (Environmental Testing) and DO-160 (Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment).

Testing and Validation:

• Lead testing and validation efforts for mechanical systems, including environmental tests such as thermal cycling, vibration, and structural integrity.
• Document testing processes, results, and compliance for future reference and stakeholder communication.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive design documentation and testing records. Prepare technical reports and presentations for engineers, project managers, and clients.

Qualifications &

Experience:

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on SATCOM, RF systems, or related industries.
• Proven experience working with external vendors and suppliers for component fabrication and delivery management.

Technical Expertise:

• Proficiency in Solid Works for 2D and 3D design, modeling, and rendering.
• Hands-on experience with simulation tools like Flowtherm or equivalent for thermal and structural analysis.
• Deep understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and machining techniques.

Key

Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical design issues effectively.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as MIL-STD 810 and DO-160.
• Expertise in product testing, including environmental and structural tests.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
