Job DescriptionThe BIM Manager will lead and oversee all Building Information Modelling (BIM) functions across ICON’s international offices. This position plays a key role in establishing and maintaining company-wide BIM standards, digital workflows, and collaborative processes to support high-quality design delivery in landscape architecture and associated engineering disciplines.
The role will also involve developing custom BIM tools, plug-ins, and automations to enhance design efficiency and ensure technological advancement across the organization’s multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop, implement, and maintain ICON’s BIM standards, templates, and procedures across all projects and offices.
- Lead BIM operations and ensure compliance with ISO standards and project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
- Manage and coordinate BIM workflows for landscape, architectural, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines.
- Develop and maintain custom tools, add-ons, and scripts to improve productivity and automate design processes.
- Conduct regular model audits, clash detection, and quality control reviews to ensure model integrity and coordination.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to BIM Coordinators, Modelers and project teams across all ICON offices.
- Support project teams in model setup, data management, and integration with cloud collaboration platforms.
- Collaborate with IT to manage BIM-related software licensing, upgrades, and performance optimization.
- Research and introduce emerging digital technologies (e.g. digital twins, AI-driven design).
- Support project delivery and business development teams through model-based visualizations, simulations, and technical documentation.
- Ensure smooth information exchange and coordination between all regional design offices.
- Revit Scripting/Dynamo skills would be an added benefit for the position.
- Create and maintain key documents such as Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR), BIM Execution Plan (BEP), Master/Task Information Delivery Plans (MIDP/TIDP) in compliance with relevant standards (for example ISO 19650).
- Establish BIM standards, protocols, workflows, model structure, and information exchange processes (e.g., model naming conventions, common data environment (CDE), file structure).
- Oversee the setup of BIM environment at project commencement: templates, libraries, modelling rules, linking discipline models, define Level of Development (LOD) / Level of Information (LOI).
- Monitor project BIM deliverables: ensure they are issued on time, meet the defined standards and quality, support decision-making by model/data.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience, including 3–5 years in BIM management leadership role.
- Proven ability to develop custom BIM tools or plug-ins to support productivity.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination workflows and digital design standards.
- Experience working on landscape, infrastructure, and public realm projects.
- Knowledge of GIS integration and data-driven design workflows.
- Familiarity with parametric modeling and interoperability tools.
- Autodesk or other recognized BIM Management certification preferred.
- Passionate about digital transformation and innovation within the design and engineering industry.
