WSP is looking for a Road Safety Auditor who will be responsible for independently assessing transport and highway infrastructure to ensure compliance with recognised road safety standards. The role involves reviewing designs at various project stages, conducting site inspections, identifying potential safety risks for all road users, and preparing structured audit reports with practical recommendations. The position requires strong technical knowledge of highway design, sound analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Road Safety Audits across relevant stages (Stage 0–4) in accordance with applicable guidelines and best‑practice procedures.
  • Review concept, preliminary, and detailed highway designs to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Carry out site visits to evaluate existing conditions, collision patterns, and potential risk factors.
  • Analyse road user behaviour, visibility conditions, and geometric features that may affect safety outcomes.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well‑structured audit reports, including identified issues, risk ratings, and recommended mitigation measures.
  • Communicate audit findings professionally to designers, stakeholders, and client representatives.
  • Maintain awareness of current road safety standards, highway design principles, and safe‑system practices.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to ensure alignment with industry best practices
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Collision Investigation or Road Safety Engineering.
  • Completion of a recognised 10‑day Collision Investigation or Road Safety Engineering training course.
  • Participation in at least 5 Road Safety Audits as an Audit Team Member or Observer within the past 24 months.
  • Completion of a minimum of 2 days of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the fields of Road Safety Audit, Collision Investigation, or Road Safety Engineering within the past 12 months.

Ability to demonstrate a well‑rounded understanding of highway design, including geometric design, traffic engineering, and associated safety considerations.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify safety issues objectively.
  • Good understanding of road user behaviour and safe‑system principles.
  • Proficiency in interpreting design drawings, standards, and technical documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in the preparation of technical reports.
  • High level of professional integrity, independence, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
