Our client is seeking a highly certified Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and oversight of sophisticated mechanical systems and components for the nuclear and power generation industries. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and safety of our projects. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to solve complex challenges and deliver engineered solutions that meet rigorous quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, piping, pumps, valves, and support structures, utilizing 3D CAD software.
- Perform and review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural, thermal, seismic, and fatigue assessments to validate design performance.
- Develop and review technical specifications, calculation packages, and design documentation for compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31.1, and other applicable nuclear standards.
- Provide technical direction and oversight during fabrication, installation, and testing phases to ensure adherence to design intent.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues related to mechanical system performance.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and regulatory personnel to present design bases and justify engineering decisions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required;
Masters degree or PE license a strong asset. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably within the nuclear, power plant, or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Proven expertise with 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, Inventor) and advanced proficiency in FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong knowledge of materials science, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer as applied to industrial systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
