As a Design Engineer (Secondary), the person shall be capable of reviewing & executing secondary engineering activities for substation projects under the direction of the Design Lead (Secondary). They must have good knowledge in protection & automation systems in substation and be thorough with protection applications. The candidate shall coordinate with vendors for finalization of equipment after vendor evaluation.
Key Responsibilities- Timely completion of all deliverables.
- Responsible for review of CRP (Control Relay Panels) and automation drawings developed by the vendor.
- Interact with site execution & cluster teams for clarification regarding the design of equipment.
- Interact with vendor for clarification regarding compliance with technical specifications & comments and quality.
- Coordinate with primary design engineer to obtain specification requirement of the client and checklist for evaluation from the Design Lead (Secondary) / Project Engineering Managers.
- Evaluate technical offers based on technical specifications (requirements) of the client and timely submission to Design Lead (Secondary) for review.
- Prepare design calculations of CT/VT and battery sizing and develop DC & AC single line diagrams of a substation and submit to the Design Lead for checking.
- Review bill of material and compare with the tender quantity.
- Pre‑tender engineering including estimation of BOM (Bill of Materials) and offer reviews for secondary equipment.
The Design Engineer (Secondary) is required to have a complete understanding of secondary engineering activities such as protection & control scheme drawings, SCADA, and calculation of burden parameters of CT & CVT. The engineer must be familiar with national and international codes and standards. It is desirable to have knowledge of system studies.
