System Assurance Manager

Job DescriptionRINA is currently recruiting for a System Assurance Manager to join its office in Abu Dhabi within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.
The railway Senior RAMS Engineer is responsible for ensuring railway systems operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime. His role covers system performance evaluation, risk assessment, and compliance with international railway safety standards. In particular he has a strong experience and competence in RAMS and all aspects relevant to system performance assurance:
Electromagnetic Compatibility, Human Factor & Ergonomic, Fire Life Safety, Security, Cybersecurity, Hearthing & Bonding, Electrical risks, Authorization & Homologation. He acts as leading expert and manages the System Assurance team of the railway projects where RINA has in scope the activity of System Assurance. His scope includes various stages of the railway system lifecycle, from design to operation and maintenance.
Accountabilities
- Supporting RAMS and System Process Management: support the implementation and coordination of RAMS processes across project phases, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
- Managing system level disciplines such as Electromagnetic Compatibility, Human Factor & Ergonomic, Fire Life Safety, Security, Cybersecurity, Hearthing & Bonding, Electrical risks, Authorization & Homologation.
- Conducting Risk Analysis and Assessment: contribute to conducting risk assessments, utilize RAMS methodologies such as FMECA, event tree analysis and fault tree analysis.
- Managing Documentation and Deliverables: contribute to development and review of key RAMS deliverables, maintain accurate documentation throughout project phases.
- Collaborating with Stakeholders: work closely with project teams, suppliers, operators, authorities, participate in safety-related meetings.
- Lead communication with Independent Assessors and Agencies.
- Testing and Commissioning: ensure safety requirements met during testing and commissioning, review and assess test plans.
- Reporting and Communication: provide updates on RAMS activities, communicate safety-related issues effectively.
- Project Team Management: manage the team of engineers, support workload efficient management, propose hiring activities.
Master’s Degree in Electronic/TLC Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Qualifications- At least 15 years of experience in the role.
- Proven capabilities in managing complex projects in tough environments.
- Proven skill in managing multicultural teams with different competences and experiences.
- Understanding of functional safety principles, willingness to learn and develop expertise.
- Familiarity with railway industry regulations and safety standards.
- Awareness of safety authorization and homologation processes outlined by relevant authorities.
- Basic knowledge of RAMS analysis software, willing to gain proficiency.
- Knowledge of international standards: EN 50126, 50128, 50129, IEC 61508.
- Experience with RAMS Analysis Techniques: FMEA, FMECA, FTA, ETA, RBD.
- Risk & Safety Assessment: PHA, IHA, Hazard Logs & Risk Matrices, ALARP, SIL.
- Knowledge of system level disciplines such as EM Compatibility, Human Factor & Ergonomic, Fire Life Safety, Security, Cybersecurity, Hearthing & Bonding, Electrical risks.
