Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer (Mechanical & Piping) as part of our Engineering team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The position will be based at Habshan Site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The RoleThe Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities for mechanical and piping works at site in EPCM projects. The role ensures that construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes/standards, and client requirements.

- Implement the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality procedures at site
- Ensure compliance with EPCM quality requirements, client specifications, and applicable international codes (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, etc.)
- Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, and HSE teams to ensure quality integration across disciplines
- Supervise and inspect mechanical and piping installation activities (equipment, piping, supports, valves, tanks, etc.)
- Review and approve method statements, ITPs, and inspection checklists
- Conduct inspections for:
- Material receipt and traceability
- Welding, fit‑up, and fabrication
- NDT activities (RT, UT, MT, PT)
- Pressure testing, flushing, and cleaning
- Equipment installation, alignment, and preservation
- Review and approve QA/QC documentation including:
- Welding records (WPS, PQR, WPQ)
- NDT reports
- Hydrotest and pneumatic test records
- Mechanical completion dossiers
- Maintain NCRs, CARs, and follow up on corrective/preventive actions
- Prepare quality reports and submit to Client/PMC
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor quality performance
- Conduct site quality audits and surveillance
- Interface with vendors and inspectors during FAT, SAT, and site inspections
- Support pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities
- Ensure mechanical completion and system handover documentation is complete and approved
- Participate in punch listing and close‑out activities

Expected- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in QA/QC for mechanical and piping works
- Proven experience in EPCM projects (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, Industrial)
- Strong site‑based experience is mandatory
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
- CSWIP / AWS Welding Inspector
- ASNT Level II (NDT)
- Relevant client or third‑party approvals
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, welding, and mechanical installation
- Familiar with international codes and standards (ASME B31.3, ASME VIII, API, etc.)
- Excellent inspection, reporting, and documentation skills
- Strong coordination and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and site activities
