Position Summary
The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and maintains a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role requires flexibility, classroom management skills, and the ability to follow lesson plans while supporting students’ academic and behavioral needs.
Key Responsibilities- Implement lesson plans and classroom activities as provided by the regular teacher
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment
- Take attendance and follow school policies and procedures
- Manage student behavior in accordance with school guidelines
- Provide instructional support and assistance to students as needed
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration - Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred; education-related field a plus)
- Valid substitute teaching license or certification (as required by state or district)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities
- Flexibility, reliability, and professionalism

- May require standing, walking, and supervising students for extended periods
