The Emergency Medicine Specialist provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries. This role requires rapid clinical decision-making, effective prioritization, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered emergency care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, stabilize, and manage patients with medical, surgical, traumatic, and psychiatric emergencies
- Perform rapid triage and initiate life-saving interventions
- Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies, imaging, and ECGs
- Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, intubation, suturing, fracture reduction, and resuscitation
- Manage cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, and toxicologic emergencies
- Coordinate care with specialists, inpatient teams, and ancillary services
- Provide clear communication to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
- Supervise and support junior physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health staff
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management activities
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Emergency Medicine
- Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program
- Active and unrestricted medical license (or eligibility for licensure)
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification (as applicable)
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to make rapid decisions under pressure
- Expertise in emergency procedures and resuscitation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage high patient volumes and diverse case presentations
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning
- Hospital-based Emergency Department or urgent care setting
- Shift-based schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Fast-paced, unpredictable, high-acuity clinical environment
- Ability to stand and move for prolonged periods
- Capacity to manage stressful, time-critical, and emotionally challenging situations
