- Examines clinically and radiographically the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity and head and neck region.
- At least 2–3 years’ experience in the relevant specialised department in a private hospital setting.
- Work experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
- Basic medical degree recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Diploma or a training in a speciality recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
- Interview patients and record medical history. Order appropriate medical laboratory tests to assist in diagnosis of systemic diseases which may affect the course of dental treatment.
- Plan a course of treatment based on the findings of the clinical and radiographic examination, the patient’s needs, and consistent with the philosophy and policies guiding the delivery of dental health care in the clinic.
- Prescribe and administer pre‑medications to patients as indicated and utilize local anesthetics for control of pain.
- Treat and restore decayed and fractured teeth of adults and children under adequate isolation, remove decay, shape cavities to receive the restorative materials of choice, place appropriate medications and bases, finish and polish the restorations.
- Prepare teeth and soft tissues for the placement of fixed or removable prostheses (bridges, partial dentures, full dentures) to replace missing teeth or to regain stability through splinting when indicated.
- Provide emergency after hours dental services to hospital in‑patient and emergency room referrals.
- Participate in an in‑service training program and continuing techniques education courses to improve personal knowledge of techniques and materials and to enhance skills to meet individual or department requirements.
- Become certified in the cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation technique.
- Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety.
- Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
- Report OSH hazards, incidents, near misses and issues.
- Reduce, reuse, recycling of waste as much as possible.
- Attend all OSH trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.
- Participate in the OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained.
- PCI is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC PCI policy and strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.
- The strictest hand hygiene, five moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times.
