Job Description
This position will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support and project management for the development of reports and studies addressing water quality including impairments and Total Maximum Daily Loads.
Job Details- Hiring Range: 57,
- Full Time or Part Time: FULL TIME
- Coordinate the public participation process including public meetings and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare scopes of work, design monitoring programs, compile, review, and analyze water quality data.
- Draft reports/studies and provide technical review and comments on drafts prepared by consultants/contractors.
- Develop or support development of guidance and policies for the Watersheds Program.
- Support coordination through engagement with other programs, offices, and staff including other state agencies involved in the process.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to water quality.
- Knowledge of environmental science and engineering principles, aquatic ecology, chemistry, hydrology, and GIS technology, including experience with ESRI software suite (ArcGIS Desktop, Arc Pro, ArcGIS Online, etc.).
- Knowledge, experience, or education regarding the water quality processes including total maximum daily loads and the principles of water quality monitoring and assessment.
- Knowledge, experience, or education related to data management/analysis, technical writing, project management and communication.
- Ability to plan, communicate, and conduct public meetings, public engagements, outreach and represent the agency regarding water quality.
- Valid driver's license (may require operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle).
- Combination of education or training with major coursework in environmental sciences, natural resources, environmental engineering or related field, facilitation skills including meeting planning and development, and experience in analysis using GIS, managing project deliverables/budgets, working with local governments, citizen groups, agency partners, and the general public.

It is responsible for administering laws and regulations related to air quality, water quality, water supply, renewable energy, and land protection. Through the dedication and work of over 800 employees across six regional offices and the Central Office in Richmond, DEQ issues permits, conducts monitoring and inspections, and enforces the law.
