HVAC Service Apprentice

Position Summary

As a HVAC Service Apprentice Technician you will assist in performing all HVACR necessary to keep existing facilities and systems within those facilities operating in an efficient manner. This work can include the partnering with a journeyman technician on inspection, service, maintenance, start-up, testing, balancing, adjusting, repair, modification and replacement of mechanical and refrigeration equipment and components including related piping connections and controls.

In addition, any other service, maintenance and operations work as assigned by the customer as well as work on any temporary systems. Southland Industries is a signatory contractor of local union 404. We are ideally looking for someone currently located in the Abilene, TX Area.

• Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations.
• Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
• Clean and maintain assigned work areas to eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
• May perform tasks identified in the relevant journeyman job description when a 1st year apprentice cannot be provided by the local union.
• Perform all work within the confines of Brandt’s safety rules and regulations.
• Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
• Primary Functions:
  • Perform duties relating to material handling and clean-up.
  • Perform craft-related tasks if/when a 1st year apprentice cannot be provided by the local trade union.

• High school degree (or GED)
• Ability and willingness to listen and follow directions
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment
• Ability to successfully pass company drug-screen and physical tests
• Employment is contingent upon active membership in the appropriate local trade union.
• Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Brandt’s partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.
