General DescriptionUnder general supervision, perform a wide range of customer service duties, sales, and support functions in Guest Services at the Abilene Zoo. Provide administrative support to Guest Service Managers and Assistant Managers, and appropriately direct Zoo visitor traffic.
Supervision ExercisedThis position does not exercise supervisory duties.
Important And Essential Duties- Greets and directs visitors to the Abilene Zoo and answers general questions.
- Provides administrative support for Guest Service Managers and Assistant Managers.
- Assists with customer service functions, including answering inquiries, giving directions, and providing information on zoo functions and activities.
- Processes incoming and outgoing calls, registers payments, reservations, and visitation paperwork, operates equipment, and prepares food.
- Maintains, inspects, cleans, takes inventory, and follows policies and procedures of assigned equipment, areas, and surrounding spaces.
- Assists with guest surveys and other reports.
- Operates City vehicle and/or motorized equipment (trains, gators, golf carts) as permitted for guests over 18 years of age.
- May assist with other Guest Services operations.

This is an entry level position; preference may be given to individuals with previous customer service experience.
Education/TrainingA high school diploma, GED, or in the process of obtaining either is required.
License Or Certificate- Train Operation requires staff members to be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
- Food Handlers Permit required if preparing food.
- Bloodborne Pathogens and Haz Com training required within 60 days of employment.
- Minimum age 16 years.
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Work outdoors in extreme heat and cold.
- Sedentary: lifting ≤ 10 lbs
- Light: lifting ≤ 20 lbs; carrying ≤ 10 lbs
- Medium: lifting ≤ 50 lbs; carrying ≤ 25 lbs
- Heavy: lifting ≤ 100 lbs; carrying ≤ 50 lbs
- Very Heavy: team lifting > 100 lbs; carrying > 50 lbs
