Job SummaryThe Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting and consulting the Store Manager and overseeing overall operations and administrative duties, including determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department, upholds policies, procedures, and standards, delivers outstanding customer service, and promotes merchandise in stores. When the Store Manager is absent, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control and is trained in all Store Manager responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent.
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties and support the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Provide extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, including assisting customers upon entry and managing multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and corporate memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risk to management.
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to manage a team and maintain overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without prompts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
