The Registered Nurse leads milieu management and directs nursing staff, maintaining professional nursing practice standards and facilitating patient care.
Essential Functions- Use the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, evaluation) and formulate individualized care plans.
- Identify risk levels, precautions, and expected outcomes, including discharge planning; implement interventions and evaluate effectiveness.
- Apply knowledge of psychiatric disorders and nursing interventions to progress patients toward wellness.
- Administer medications safely, educate patients, recognize adverse drug reactions.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and decision‑making for quality care.
- Review, revise, and update medical records within guidelines and timelines; document care accurately.
- Communicate incomplete assignments and client needs to ensure continuity of care.
- Delegate duties appropriately and advocate for patient safety.
- Employ nursing knowledge to support facility and staff needs.
- Float among clinical services and perform other duties as assigned.
- Active RN license in the state of employment (or valid compact).
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: one year of inpatient hospital experience.
- Adaptability to high‑stress environments and assessment of patient escalation.
- Effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers.
- Organized and culturally sensitive to diverse and special‑needs populations.
- Critical thinking for continuous patient‑care improvement.
- Self‑confidence and conceptual leadership abilities.
- CPR certification and completion of Oceans' behavioral health de‑escalation program.
The role involves 12‑hour rotating shifts, frequent interruptions, and a high‑pace, stressful atmosphere. Employees spend approximately 90% of their time in a building that protects from weather but not temperature changes. The environment may include disagreeable odors, sights, or unpredictable patient behavior.
