Job Summary
A Masters-prepared or higher degreed, registered nurse maintaining certification in the areas of wound, ostomy, and Continence (WOC) Nurse. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and providing education and specialty patient care to customers, families, community, and staff in the areas of WOCN; presenting and/or coordinating WOC patient care and educational/competency activities based on current standards of care and evidenced based practice;
adhering to governing agencies’ guidelines and mandates; demonstrating proficiency in the classroom/clinical setting; developing, leading, summarizing, and disseminating performance improvement activities; leading and participating on committees pertinent to job duties; and acting as a resource and liaison to the community, medical staff, nursing units and ancillary departments at HMC.
Minimum Education
- Master’s in the Science of Nursing (MSN)
- 2 Year Clinical Experience
- Registered nurse (RN) in the state of Texas
- Maintenance of certification in Wound, Ostomy, or Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing through WOCNCB
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
- Demonstrates a commitment to WOCN as a foundation for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care, services and education.
- Develops continuing educational, performance improvement and competency development activities in a professional manner according to criteria required by governing agencies with a foundation on evidence based practice.
- Organizes and completes educational records according to facility and governing agency requirements.
- Leads the facility with standard of care WOCN skills.
