RoleThe Abilene Campus Library Manager leads all aspects of daily library operations at the Abilene Educational Center. The manager serves as the lead for digital resources and subscription databases across the college. They also co-lead library instruction and faculty engagement in collaboration with the Cisco Campus Library Manager and co-develop shared policies, tools, and support services that ensure consistent, high-quality access across campuses.
This position contributes to institutional planning, assessment, and accreditation. A commitment to the role of the community college, as described in the College Mission, is essential.
The Library Manager reports to the Dean of Digital Learning and supervises Abilene Campus Library staff and student workers. This position works closely with the Digital Learning team and will also serve as an active, collaborative member of the Center for Teaching and Learning once established.
Responsibilities- Manages daily operations of the Abilene Campus Library, including supervision of staff and student workers, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation.
- Supervises and participates in front-desk services, including circulation, reference, and research support.
- Designs and delivers library instruction in collaboration with faculty, aligning sessions with the ACRL Framework and supporting student learning outcomes.
- Advises faculty on instructional resources, including Open Educational Resources (OER), copyright, and the ethical use of emerging tools such as generative AI.
- Ensures equitable access and support for commuter, online, and dual credit students through tailored services, digital resources, and coordinated outreach.
- Oversees print collections and circulation at the Abilene Campus, including inventory, course reserves, and interlibrary loan; serves as campus lead for the ILS, managing access, records, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborates with the Cisco Library Manager on archives and special collections by enabling digital discovery and access workflows when needed.
- Partners with the Cisco Library Manager on digital resources and subscription databases, contributing to selection, licensing, access, and usage analysis; serves as the College-wide lead.
- Drives innovation by testing and refining services, spaces, and digital tools suited to a commuter campus; shares effective practices across campuses.
- Collaborates with IT to manage Abilene Campus Library technology services and student computing resources, ensuring reliable access and equitable support.
- Assesses library services using surveys, usage data, and learning outcomes; contributes to strategic planning, SACSCOC compliance, and evidence-based improvement.
- Coordinates Abilene library budgeting and planning; co-manages college-wide library budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocations with the Cisco Library Manager and Dean of Digital Learning; supports library-aligned grant development.
