Executive Director, Taylor-Callahan Education Cooperative (TCEC)

Primary Responsibilities – Behavioral Classroom Teacher
  • Provide Specialized Instruction
    • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction tailored to students’ behavioral, emotional, and academic needs.
    • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized education programs (IEPs) with fidelity.
  • Behavior Management
    • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and safe classroom environment.
    • Teach, model, and reinforce appropriate social and emotional behaviors.
    • Use data‑driven strategies to monitor and adjust student behavior interventions.
  • Collaboration and Consultation
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to coordinate services.
    • Participate actively in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavior plans.
  • Data Collection and Documentation
    • Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate behavioral and academic data.
    • Complete all required reports, documentation, and legal paperwork in compliance with district and state guidelines.
  • Professional Development and Training
    • Engage in ongoing professional learning related to behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and special education compliance.
    • Provide training or coaching to paraprofessionals and other staff as needed.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention
    • Implement de‑escalation techniques and crisis intervention procedures when necessary.
    • Ensure student and staff safety through proactive behavior support systems.
  • Student Support and Advocacy
    • Advocate for the academic, behavioral, and emotional success of each student.
    • Support students in developing coping skills, self‑regulation strategies, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Classroom Organization and Planning
    • Design and maintain an engaging and structured classroom environment.
    • Plan daily lessons and activities that integrate behavioral and academic goals.
  • Compliance and Ethical Practice
    • Follow all federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education and student confidentiality.
    • Uphold professional standards and ethical practices in all interactions.
  • Communication Skills – Behavioral Classroom Teacher
  • Student Interaction
    • Communicates with students using clear, calm, and positive language.
    • Builds trust and rapport by demonstrating empathy, patience, and respect.
    • Uses proactive communication strategies to de‑escalate challenging behaviors and reinforce positive conduct.
  • Family and Guardian Communication
    • Maintains open, ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and support strategies.
    • Conducts conferences and meetings in a constructive, solution‑focused manner.
    • Provides families with resources and strategies to support student growth at home.
  • Collaboration with Colleagues
    • Works collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
    • Actively participates in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) and other multidisciplinary meetings.
    • Provides input and feedback in a professional, respectful, and team‑oriented manner.
  • Professional Communication
    • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation, data reporting, and correspondence.
    • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all communications.
    • Uses active listening skills to understand diverse perspectives and foster collaboration.
  • Public Relations and Representation
    • Promotes positive public relations on behalf of the school and cooperative.
    • Models effective communication strategies for students and staff.
    • Represents the program and district with professionalism in all community and educational settings.
