Job Summary:The Data Center Site Superintendent is responsible for the day‑to‑day field leadership, coordination, and execution of fiber optic installation activities within data center environments. This role oversees splicing, testing, rack and cabinet installation, cable routing, and quality control to ensure all work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project specifications and client standards. The superintendent serves as the primary on‑site authority for workforce management, production planning, and issue resolution while maintaining strict adherence to data center operational procedures and change‑management requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Field Leadership & Supervision
- Direct and supervise fiber optic leads, technicians, splicers, testers, and installation crews.
- Coordinate daily work plans, manpower loading, and task sequencing to meet project milestones.
- Conduct daily briefings, safety meetings, and progress reviews.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship quality, and adherence to installation standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Oversee installation of backbone and distribution fiber through trays, conduits, and cable management systems.
- Supervise high fiber count ribbon splicing operations and enclosure preparation.
- Ensure Tier 1 and Tier 2 fiber testing is performed, documented, and meets project loss budgets.
- Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions for failed fibers or test discrepancies.
- Coordinate installation of racks, cabinets, fiber enclosures, patch panels, and cable management hardware.
- Verify grounding, bonding, labeling, and physical alignment requirements.
- Ensure proper routing, segregation from power, and compliance with data center best practices.
- Execute work in alignment with the project schedule and critical path activities.
- Identify risks, constraints, or resource shortages and implement recovery actions.
- Coordinate material deliveries, tool readiness, and access requirements.
- Support schedule acceleration, shift work, or phased turnovers as required.
- Enforce QA/QC procedures, inspection hold points, and testing requirements.
- Review splice records, test reports, and as‑built documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Manage punch list resolution and readiness for client turnover.
- Enforce site safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Support method of procedure (MOP), lockout/tagout (LOTO), and maintenance window activities.
- Ensure compliance with data center operational controls and change management processes.
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards immediately.
