Junior Sister / Charge Nurse – Cancer Day Unit
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the current team on a permanent basis in Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth.
You will support the Sister Sister and deputise when required to ensure that care is delivered to a consistently high standard. This position is ideal for a Nurse seeking to develop strong leadership skills while providing high‑quality care to patients undergoing systemic anti‑cancer therapy.

Junior Sister / Charge Nurse – Cancer Day Unit (Band 6, permanent, Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth)
Key Role:
Support the nursing team, deliver day‑case anti‑cancer treatment, manage chemotherapy and immunotherapy services, and lead in the absence of senior staff.
The Cancer Treatment Day Unit delivers day‑case anti‑cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, to patients with oncological and haematological malignancies. The unit is located on the Leri Cancer Unit, which opened in May 2025.
- Administer systemic anti‑cancer treatment, venepuncture, venesection, cannulation.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to nursing staff.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Ensure high standards of patient care, safety and quality.
- Maintain accurate records and compliance with national standards.
- Registered nurse at first level.
- NMC registration.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Post‑registration qualification in oncology/haematology/chemotherapy.
- Evidence of CPD within speciality to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent.
- Completion of SACT passport.
- Teaching qualification.
- Recognised management qualification.
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification (V300).
- Experience working within a chemotherapy environment.
- SACT competent.
- Experience working in a multi‑professional environment.
- Ability to work autonomously within a small team.
- Competence in administration of systemic anti‑cancer treatments.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge of speciality.
- Previous experience of leadership and management.
- Experience of e‑prescribing (Chemocare).
- Participation in PDRs and recruitment/selection.
- Experience of eprescribing (Chemocare).
- Welsh speaker (Level
1) – desirable.
Formal DBS check required. Applicants must undergo a check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
