We are seeking a committed and learner-focused Lecturer to join our Entry and Foundation teams
. You will work as a core member of the Entry and Foundation teams, acting as a personal tutor, setting and monitoring person-centred targets, assessing learner progress, developing learning resources and contributing to enrichment activities. The post also involves active participation in quality assurance processes, curriculum development and the wider life of the faculty. We are looking for a creative, committed professional who shares the Colleges’ values, is passionate about learner progression and inclusion, and is dedicated to delivering an outstanding learner experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake the teaching delivery and engaging learners within a non-accredited qualification based upon the RARPA approach, pinpointing the requirements of the main pillars including, employability, health and wellbeing, community and communication and literacy. The programme offers numeracy and digital awareness and promotes independence within the weekly programme.
  • Provide opportunities which will enhance and enrich the learner experience as well as promoting independent living skills and raise aspirations for Entry learners.
  • Be responsible for the delivery and assessment of learners needs and requirements to engage.
  • Be responsible for the setting and monitoring of the progress of person centered targets and delivery and assessment of a range of activities on Entry Level programmes.
  • Be a personal tutor for a group of Entry Level students supporting the course lead within delivery.
  • Develop resources in which can support and enhance the above delivery.
  • Be involved in all aspects of the faculty’s quality control systems including the monitoring and tracking of individual targets, internal verification and cross marking of assessed work and management of data.
  • Contribute to further curriculum developments within the Entry Level programmes.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
  • Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
  • GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Experience and understanding of learners with ALN and challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge and understanding of the new ALN reforms
  • Ability to work effectively with learners with ALN, including autism and emotional and behaviour difficulties (EBD)
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing
  • Sound understanding of digital literacy
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
  • Motivation, drive and initiative to further develop provision
Desirable Criteria
  • Level 5 - 7 qualification in SEN
  • Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development in Person Centered Practice
  • Level 1 BSL
  • Knowledge of non-accredited teaching programmes
  • Experience of teaching online
  • A good understanding of Post 16 Education
  • A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
  • Awareness of key performance indicators
  • Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
  • Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
  • Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
