An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Skills Lecturer Practitioner (Registered Nurse Adult Field) in Healthcare Education to join Aberystwyth University. The post holder will support the Principal Lead & Head of Healthcare Education to design and deliver new provision in clinical skills and simulation, working alongside the clinical skills lead and simulation lead for Level 4 programmes, pre‑registration Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing degrees, and Return to Practice programmes.
The programmes will be delivered in English and Welsh. This is a part‑time role, two days each week, allowing clinicians to continue practice.
- Teach a wide range of clinical skills and simulation topics for the adult field of nursing.
- Act as module coordinator, managing modules and coordinating colleagues where necessary.
- Challenge students’ thinking, foster debate and support critical discourse.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, service users and academic colleagues on curriculum and module development.
- Plan, design and deliver health‑care CPD for professionals.
- Maintain professional registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register and ensure revalidation.
- Co‑operate with the Clinical Skills Lead, Simulation Lead and clinical skills technician.
- Act as academic assessor and provide high‑quality support to students in diverse learning environments.
- Manage placement learning opportunities and capacity for nursing students.
- Uphold the NMC Code, guiding students and practising professional behaviour.
- Publish and share evidence of scholarship in academic journals.
- Communicate specialist knowledge and support student learning needs.
- Supervise student projects, fieldwork and placements where appropriate.
- Develop teaching materials, methods and approaches.
- Plan and manage teaching, scholarship and administrative tasks.
- Provide assessment and constructive feedback, acting as a personal tutor where required.
- Support new team members and tutor staff.
- Undertake other duties as assigned, supporting colleagues and participating in university‑level initiatives.

- Engage in continuous professional development and maintain health and safety responsibilities.
- Registered Nurse with NMC UK Adult Nursing registration.
- Graduate of a recognised nursing degree.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Extensive clinical experience across diverse settings.
- Experience in teaching, supervising and assessing health‑care students.
- Clinical expertise in adult nursing and simulation.
- In‑depth knowledge of new NMC pre‑registration standards.
- Understanding of the ‘Once for Wales’ 2020 core curriculum.
- Knowledge of varied teaching and learning methods.
- Advanced communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Coaching ability.
- Current UK driving licence for clinical visits.
- Willingness to travel.
- Oral and written Welsh, Level A0.
- Master’s degree relevant to the role.
- PhD or willingness to pursue.
- HEA Fellowship.
- Teaching qualification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to communicate in Welsh (Level B2).
