North Ceredigion. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the North Ceredigion Community Mental Health Team. Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant to join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking mental health service. The successful applicant will provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership as we look to develop our mental health services to meet the population needs of Hywel Dda UHB.
The post involves providing, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate), a service in Adult General Community Psychiatry and supporting the development of sub-speciality interest to the hospitals and community so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Ensure the provision and delivery of a first class clinical service.
- Provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
- Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
- Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board service plans.
- Lead and contribute to ongoing development of the sub-speciality service as appropriate.
- Deliver care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams.
- Address the Intermediate Care Agenda.
- Participate in CPD including Audit.
- Maintain good standing with the Royal College for CPD and maintain professional development for Revalidation.
- Educational Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff.
- Undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence based medicine.
- Core clinical expertise in Adult General Psychiatry.
- Generic skills in multidisciplinary assessment and community management of acute and chronic mental health problems.
- Experience and knowledge of running a sub specialty service.
- Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams.
- Delivering care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams.
- Addressing the Intermediate Care Agenda (repeated for emphasis in context).
- Participation in CPD and Audit activities and maintenance of professional development for Revalidation.
The Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties. Service contextOur services are provided in:
- Four main hospitals:
Bronglais Hospital (Aberystwyth);
Glangwili Hospital (Carmarthen);
Prince Philip Hospital (Llanelli);
Withybush Hospital (Haverfordwest). - Five community hospitals:
Amman Valley and Llandovery (Carmarthenshire);
Tregaron (Ceredigion);
Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals (Pembrokeshire). - Two integrated care centres:
Aberaeron and Cardigan (Ceredigion), and several other community settings. - 47 general practices (six board-managed); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers.
