Altera Infrastructure are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Electrical Technician to join our dynamic team. This role places you at the heart of a cutting‑edge project. On offer is the chance to join a rapidly growing team on a 2:3 rotation for Offshore Operations.

As part of the crew, you will be integral to the success of our project, contributing to preservation and maintenance activities. This is your chance to make a significant impact on a major project, working with ultra‑modern equipment and advancing your career in the energy sector.
Our modern FPSO, the Petrojarl Knarr, will be deployed to the Rosebank oil and gas field to produce and store hydrocarbons. The Rosebank development has been optimised to reduce carbon emissions and the FPSO will be prepared for future electrification. The vessel is currently undergoing life extension work, modifications for field specifics and enhanced energy efficiency.

Duties and responsibilities

The Electrical Technician shall ensure that the day‑to‑day activities of the team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the company HSEQ policies, and ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and relevant management systems.

The Electrical Technician shall assist the Lead Electrical and Instrument Technician in their functions and undertake operational maintenance / repair of the installation:

  • Operate and maintain HV power generation / management systems, switching, power distribution and utility systems.
  • Perform the role of Responsible Electrical Person (REP) and will be the senior authority for all matters of electrical safety on the installation.
  • Carry out planned preventative and remedial maintenance as described in the maintenance management system work instructions (CMMS).
  • Apply technical knowledge to determine equipment failures and identify appropriate repair solutions for equipment.
  • Ensure timely completion of safety critical work, Priority 1 Criticality 1 (P1C1).
  • Perform the role of work leader and isolation authority where required.
  • Contribute to continuous updates of documentation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate reporting within the Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Perform Ex inspections on certified equipment.
  • Perform PAT of electrical equipment and carry out inspections of temporary equipment.
  • Ensure the safe operation and control of all electrical equipment on the installation.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with Operations Manual Part 5, Offshore Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Actively participate in company safety initiatives and reporting programmes
Qualifications
  • SVQ Level 3 relevant to core trade
  • CompEX 01-04
  • HV switching and protection relays
  • Electricity at work regulations
  • Electrical first aid
  • Portable appliance testing
  • Compliance with training matrix for the position
  • Extensive experience of working in an Electrical department on an offshore installation is essential (FPSO experience is preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Responsible Electrical Person (REP) is essential.
  • Must have the ability to work alone, and part of a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to read, interpret and apply information from drawings, reports and manuals.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of safe system of work (ePTW) and participating in assessing the risk management
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems
