What you’ll be doing

You’ll help ensure our Aberdeen MRF operates safely, efficiently, and at full capacity:

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across all plant areas, ensuring installations and modifications meet the latest standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with colleagues across functions to identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive changes that lower maintenance costs and boost efficiency.
  • Maintain fixed and mobile plant equipment, applying hands‑on knowledge of conveyors, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
  • Promote best‑practice health & safety and contribute to a culture of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Use Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to plan, record, and optimise maintenance activities.

What we’re looking for

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and career stages — your practical skills, reliability, and enthusiasm for sustainable operations are what count:

  • Predominantly mechanical background with basic electrical knowledge, ideally from a relevant engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Qualification to City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Proven experience maintaining fixed and mobile plant in recycling, waste processing, manufacturing, or similar industrial environments.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of equipment such as conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and hydraulics; experience with lean techniques desirable.
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) and ability to use CMMS (both highly desirable — training available).
