Role OverviewThe D365 Project Operations Functional Architect is responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing end‑to‑end project lifecycle processes across the organization
. This role partners closely with sales, delivery, finance, procurement, and executive stakeholders to align project operations processes with business outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep functional expertise along with multiple end‑to‑end implementation cycles in project-centric environments.
- Define and maintain the end‑to‑end D365 Project Operations functional architecture covering project sales, estimation, pricing/costing, WBS planning, scheduling, resource management, budgeting, subcontracting, time/expense, procurement, actuals, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
- Conduct fit‑gap analysis across project lifecycle processes; drive process harmonization and standard global templates for project delivery.
- Ensure alignment with Microsoft's extension model, Project Ops roadmap, and update/upgrade readiness.
- Design Governance & Quality
- Chair design authority forums for Project Ops; review FRDs/BRDs and enforce configuration‑first, standardized, minimal‑customization principles.
- Approve designs for integrations (PSA ↔ Finance/SCM/HR), reporting models, data migration (projects, forecasts, WBS, transactions), and validate performance, compliance, and security requirements.
- Govern estimation models, rate cards, costing structures, and project accounting design to ensure consistency.
- Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead workshops with CXO, Delivery, Sales, Finance, Procurement, and PMO teams to translate business goals into a Project Operations roadmap.
- Partner closely with solution architects, technical teams (OData, APIs, Dataverse, Power Platform), finance controllers, and project managers to ensure end‑to‑end process outcomes.
- Act as the primary functional authority for all project lifecycle decisions.
- Delivery & Risk Management
- Oversee CRP, UAT, Go‑Live, and Hypercare readiness for Project Ops; drive closure of design gaps, defects, and process risks.
- Define cutover strategy for projects, forecasts, WBS, resource schedules, budgets, committed costs, and open transactions.
