Core Purpose
  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll function across the Group. Ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time, and that all statutory and regulatory obligations are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery while driving continuous improvement across payroll processes and systems.
  • The role will provide leadership, guidance and support to HR and Finance colleagues on payroll related matters.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Payroll Management:
  • Manage and oversee the end-to-end monthly payroll process.
  • Ensure accurate processing of new starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, and other applicable entitlements.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee pension administration, including auto-enrolment compliance and contribution submissions.
  • Prepare and submit RTI (Real Time Information) to HMRC.
  • Manage year-end payroll processes including P60’s and P11D’s where applicable.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and ensure accurate posting to Finance systems.
  • Produce payroll reports and management information as required.
  • Leadership and Process Improvement:
  • Lead, develop and support those assisting with payroll.
  • Review and enhance payroll procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure robust payroll controls and audit trails are in place.
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries, resolving complex issues professionally and confidently.
  • Support system upgrades, implementations and payroll-related projects.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with HR to ensure employee data is accurate and up to date.
  • Liaise with Finance to ensure payroll costs are reconciled and reported correctly.
  • Provide payroll insight and reporting to ensure management as required.
  • Liaise with benefits and pension providers, to ensure accurate and timely upload of required data and reporting.
QHSE Responsibilities

To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.

Comply with the requirements of OEG Energy Group Policies and the responsibilities within the wider QHSE Management System.

Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in a Payroll Manager or Senior Payroll position.
  • Experience with in oil and gas/energy industry or a multi-site organisation is preferred.
  • Extensive experience managing end-to-end payroll within a UK environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience managing pensions and statutory payments.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
  • Proficient in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
Qualifications
  • CIPP qualification is desirable.
