General Assistant Supervisor - Shetland Islands

Location:

Sellaness Lodge Accommodation Facility – paid travel from Aberdeen provided

  • Salary: £15.29 per hour
  • Hours:

    73.5 per week (12-hour shifts, paid 10.5 hours)
  • Free on-site facilities, including a fully equipped 24/7 gym (free to use) and social bar
  • Laundry service available.
  • Structured rotation – work for 3 weeks, then enjoy 3 weeks off
About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and hands‑on General Assistant Supervisor to join our team at the Sellaness Lodge Accommodation Facility. This rotational role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team while enjoying the unique lifestyle and stunning surroundings of Shetland. You’ll play a key part in overseeing our soft services — including cleaning, catering support, and general site operations — ensuring the highest standards of safety, service, and compliance are met at all times.

Within the accommodation at Sella Ness there is a fully equipped and modern 24/7 gym on site. The Bar is also great place to socialise with friends and colleagues. The Meals provided to us are all nutritionally balanced and there is always a plentiful selection. You can literally work for 3 weeks and not spend any money if you want to!

The Shetland Gas Plant has just recently reached the milestone of 7 years LTI. A real testament to the safety culture in our workplace where we are all taught to prioritise safety ahead of all else in what we do. We are all provided with the PPE and training to make sure we all make it home safe at the end of every trip.”

The role:
  • Oversee cleaning and catering assistant teams, ensuring work meets Sodexo and client standards.
  • Allocate duties, manage workloads, and monitor daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, hygiene, COSHH, and site regulations.
  • Conduct site audits and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Report maintenance or safety issues promptly and follow up on resolutions.
  • Deputise for the Assistant Manager during absences.
  • Financial Accountability.
  • Manage labour and stock costs within budget.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and control resource use effectively.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven supervisory experience within soft services (cleaning, catering, or facilities).
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach and excellent attention to detail.
  • Desirable
  • Experience managing budgets or financial performance.
  • Previous experience in a rotational or remote environment.
