The Family Nurse Partnership Grampian (FNP) is delighted to be recruiting a Family Nurse to join our team in Moray. The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is an intensive, voluntary home visiting service offered to all eligible first time mothers aged 19 years and under at LMP, and also care experienced women up to age 25 from early pregnancy until the first child turns 2 years of age.

This will be a 3 day Post and the post holder will predominantly be covering the Elgin & Moray area. The post does not exclude the possibility of traveling elsewhere in Grampian as per service and client requirements.

The programme is underpinned by an internationally robust evidence base which shows it can improve health, social and educational outcomes in the short, medium and long term. The programme is delivered, alongside the universal Child Health Surveillance programme, by Family Nurses who also undertake the role of the Named Person for the child. All Family Nurses are required to undertake mandatory training, some of which is residential, spanning over approximately 18 months.

However alongside the mandatory training, there is now an opportunity to undertake a masters level Professional Diploma in Family Nursing.

Essential Requirements for the Family Nurse Post are:
  • First level registered nurse or midwife with current NMC registration
  • Awarded a degree at the time of applying for the post.
  • Extensive practice experience of home visiting, working with families and young people in the community.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to develop rapid therapeutic relationships with young people.
  • A strong desire to improve outcomes for children and young people
  • A working knowledge of national and local policies to protect children including Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and legislation relating to children and young people.

Mandatory FNP Training dates (subject to change) some of which are residential: 2-6th March 2026, 9th-13th March 2026, 5th May 2026, 2-3rd June 2026, 25th August 2026, 27-29th October 2026, 25th-26th November 2026, 24th August 2027 and 6-7th October 2027.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. NHS Grampian is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Interviews will include a formal panel interview and a separate interview with FNP clients. For informal enquiries, please contact Sharon Clark (FNP Supervisor) or Tracy Thorn (FNP Supervisor)
