The role:
  • Work as part of a team to provide opening & lockup/security services for the WDHSCP buildings
  • Provide comprehensive facilities (caretaking) & security service to facilitate the smooth running of the Health Centre
  • Act as a communication hub for facilities matters
  • Order/rotate stock as required and distribute throughout building
  • Provide facilities services to departments/practices as required

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • We have a 25 hour post, available for a dynamic and forward‑thinking individual. You will be based in the Vale Centre for Health and Care, but may be required to work across West Dunbartonshire HSCP.

Facilities Support Officer – Vale Centre for Health & Care

Week 1:
Early 06:30 – 11:30, Back 13:40 – 18:40
Week 2:
Back 13:40 – 18:40, Early 06:30 – 11:30

  • This is a fixed term post for 12 months
  • Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours
  • Please note interviews will be held on Tuesday 24th March
Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for security of the premises, opening and locking of buildings, setting/un‑setting of alarms, opening/locking doors/departments throughout the health centre
  • Responsible for internal and external security of the building, checking all windows/doors, making regular tours of the building
  • Grounds maintenance which includes litter picking, gritting car park/patient access routes etc during adverse weather
  • Responsible for quarterly workplace inspections and maintenance checks within various areas of the building (water checks, CCTV, curtain changes etc)
  • Assist with testing alarms (fire/staff attack) and procedures e.g. evacuation procedure
  • Provide access for out‑of‑hours contractors following local protocols
  • Sort and handle internal/external mail and deliveries as appropriate
  • Transport medical gas cylinders throughout the building when required
  • In the event of an emergency, at any time the Facilities Support Officers will assist in raising the alarm, reporting the incident internally and externally, assisting with the co‑ordination of the response and logging all details in accordance with Board Policies
  • Responsible for taking necessary action in accordance with procedural guidelines for breaches of security, Health & Safety incidents, near misses and documenting as appropriate
  • Carry out spot checks of toilets (staff & public), clean spills as per protocols and restock where necessary
  • Act on & respond to staff alarms in line with protocols and procedures
  • Provide cross‑cover, if required, in line with duties above within the West Dunbartonshire area for all sites

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • The post holder should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the health care environment in which they are operating.
  • Awareness of security procedures and systems.
  • Induction training and continuing professional development will be encouraged and supported, appropriate to the post.

  • Work shift pattern (early start or late finish as per rota).
