Position Overview

Position Overview Ithaca Energy is accepting applications for the position of Geologist, located in our Aberdeen Office.

Reporting to the Subsurface Manager, the Geologist will Support and lead geological technical work across a portfolio that includes operated assets, greenfield developments, and business development opportunities, ensuring high-quality subsurface input, robust technical assurance and value-driven decision making.

  • Deliver high quality geological analysis, evaluation and technical studies. This includes:
  • Integrating well, geological, petrophysical, geophysical and other field data types as required to update geological understanding of the subsurface and associated subsurface risks and uncertainties.
  • Build, update and review geological models in collaboration with petrophysical, geophysical and reservoir engineering disciplines.
  • Deliver timely and accurate assessment of subsurface risks, opportunities and estimates of resources based on available data.
  • Providing technical support to well planning and completions design and execution, including data gathering and acquisition planning and operations.
  • Providing geological oversight, including QC of operator deliverables and geological operations if required.
  • When required, acting as a technical leader on projects, coordinating cross-discipline activities.
  • Providing technical support/mentoring to other geologists in the team.
  • Participating in peer reviews on request.
  • Ensuring that all relevant information is stored appropriately.
  • Contributing to technical proposals, reports and presentations to internal stakeholders (assurance review peers, asset managers, decision review board) and partners if required at workshops/TCMs.
  • Supporting and participating in compiling technical and business cases for investments
  • Contributing across multiple projects simultaneously and confident to switch between tasks regularly.
Qualifications & Experience
  • PhD or MSc in geology/ geoscience desired.
  • In depth understanding of all geoscience activities.
  • Experience working on development and producing projects in an operated environment.
  • Proficient in uncertainty management analysis.
  • Able to simplify, make arguments and present confidently to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Multi-tasking, prioritisation and an ability to be reactive to urgent deadlines and changing deliverables.
  • Self-starter who can take ownership and demonstrate leadership to deliver technical studies and tasks.
  • Be able to work in a cross disciplinary environment on multiple assets, simultaneously.
  • Ability to present results and issues, and influence decisions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Strong geological background with excellent modelling skills (e.g. Petrel).
  • Experience in operations and well planning & execution.
  • Experience in strategic development planning, small and large capital project proposal reviews.
  • Knowledge of drilling practices and well logging operations is desired.
  • Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams.
