✨ About the Role
Our client, a major engineering, procurement and construction contractor within the UK energy sector, is seeking an experienced Principal or Lead Technical Safety Engineer to support a portfolio of refinery, topsides and pipeline projects across both greenfield and brownfield environments. This is a senior-level assignment requiring deep technical competence, strong regulatory understanding and the ability to lead safety engineering activities with confidence and authority.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
Lead and review a full suite of technical safety studies across refinery, topsides and pipeline assets.
Ensure compliance with all UK regulatory requirements and recognised UK good practice engineering.
Apply UK, European and international design codes to support safe and compliant engineering solutions.
Develop robust, risk-based arguments to demonstrate ALARP for both new and existing facilities.
Lead the creation and optimisation of offshore and onshore emergency response strategies and plans.
Chair HAZOPs and other hazard identification workshops to IChemE standards.
Drive the development of major accident hazard identification and hazard management strategies.
Provide senior-level technical assurance and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
🎯 Candidate Profile
Extensive experience in technical safety engineering within the UK energy sector.
Fully competent in UK regulatory frameworks, including major accident hazard legislation.
Strong background in safety studies, risk assessment and ALARP demonstration.
Proven capability in HAZOP chairing and hazard identification to IChemE standards.
Ideally degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering.
Essential: UK citizen with no visa restrictions.
Based in Aberdeen or within a reasonable commuting distance (preferred).
