The Baker Hughes Internship is designed to enable students either pursuing a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree or recently graduated to gain hands‑on work experience as the foundation of their professional lives. Our internships will give you first‑hand insights into the processes, systems, and practices that are aligned to ensure customer needs are met through flawless execution and the application of leading‑edge technology.

Purpose of the Role
The intern will support the Project Controls function across active subsea projects, gaining hands‑on experience in planning, cost control, reporting, and performance analysis. This role is designed to develop foundational skills in project management and project control within a dynamic projects environment.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling:
Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project. Support schedule updates, progress tracking, and forecasting.
Cost Control:
Help monitor project budgets, actuals, and forecasts. Assist in variance analysis and cost reporting.
Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare weekly/monthly project performance reports. Support Earned Value Management (EVM) and KPI tracking.
Risk & Change Management:
Contribute to risk register updates and change control logs. Participate in lessons learned and project close‑out activities.
Teams They Will Work With
Project Managers & Engineers – for schedule alignment and scope understanding.
Finance & Commercial – for cost tracking and budget analysis.
Planning & Controls Team – for mentorship and technical guidance.
Learning & Development Opportunities
Exposure to full project lifecycle from tender to execution and close‑out.
Training in industry‑standard tools (e.g., Primavera, Power BI).
Participation in stakeholder meetings and client reporting.
Site visits (if applicable and safe).
Mentorship from experienced Project Controllers and Project Managers.
Preferred Skills
Technical & Analytical
Strong numerical and analytical ability – comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and performance metrics.
Basic understanding of project management principles – ideally familiar with concepts like scheduling, budgeting, and risk.
Proficiency in MS Excel – including formulas, pivot tables, and charts.
Communication & Collaboration
Clear written and verbal communication – able to contribute to reports and interact with cross‑functional teams.
Team‑oriented mindset – willing to learn from and support colleagues across disciplines.
Ability to ask questions and seek clarity in complex project environments.
Organisation & Time Management
Attention to detail – especially when handling cost data, schedules, and reporting.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast‑paced setting.
Comfortable working on multiple projects or work streams simultaneously.
