Freelance Site Engineer

Position: Freelance Site Engineer (Contract)
Kenton Black are recruiting for a freelance site engineer in Aberdeenshire. A leading Tier 1 main contractor within the civil engineering sector is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to support major infrastructure works across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide precise setting out for civil engineering works, ensuring works are completed in line with design specifications and industry standards
- Oversee daily site engineering duties, including record keeping, quality checks, and technical problem-solving
- Support the delivery of major substation projects, ensuring all works meet regulatory and client requirements
- Conduct site surveys, interpret technical drawings, and liaise with design teams to resolve engineering issues
- Ensure quality assurance processes are followed, with proactive identification and reporting of defects
- Work collaboratively with site management, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain progress and efficiency
- Produce accurate reports, as-built drawings, and documentation to support project delivery
- Promote and maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards

What You Bring:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Site Engineer within the UK civil engineering industry
- Essential substation project experience, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or energy sectors
- Strong setting-out skills using modern surveying equipment (GPS, Total Station, AutoCAD)
- Solid understanding of civil engineering construction methods and site practices
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and mandatory
