Electrical Field Service Engineer – EV Charging
Role OverviewWe are looking for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to commission, maintain, and repair AC, Rapid DC, Ultra, and High-Power (HPC) EV chargers across the UK.
This is a field-based role suited to someone with a strong electrical background who can work independently on client sites. You will ensure EV charging equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards.
The role involves working in a variety of environments, including outdoor locations and confined spaces. Travel across the UK is required, with occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities- Commission and configure AC and Rapid DC chargers
- Carry out testing to ensure correct operation and compliance
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and software faults
- Conduct firmware updates, calibration, and system checks
- Replace faulty components or full units where required
- Provide on-site technical support and basic training to clients
- Complete accurate service reports and job documentation
- Work closely with service coordination and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with electrical regulations and health & safety standards
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and company assets
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a field-based engineering role
- Experience commissioning, maintaining, or repairing electrical systems
- Ability to work independently and solve technical issues
- Experience working to SLAs
- Confident using test equipment (multimeters, voltage testers, etc.)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
- BS7671: 18th Edition
- C&G 2391 / 2394 Testing & Inspection
- Experience in EV charging, renewables, or power electronics
- Manufacturer or EV charging certifications
- Experience working on Rapid DC and HPC chargers
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Understanding of analogue and digital electronics
- Strong knowledge of on-site health & safety practices
