This role seeks a self-motivated candidate to manage MEICA engineering projects end-to-end across clean and waste water treatment operational sites and estates across Scotland.
We expect you to manage all aspects of each maintenance and CAPEX project, including initial scoping of the need, competitively tendering the work, materials sourcing, contractor procurement, site set up and inductions, health and safety inspections, commissioning, training and handover to the operations teams.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical and Electrical projects.
- Individually responsible for multiple live projects at any time, with further projects in the scoping and tendering phase.
- Working with our operations teams and contractors to scope, define and cost solutions that are both cost-effective and have minimal risk.
- Overseeing our zero-compromise health and safety policy for everyone working on your project, including undertaking audits.
- Overseeing the construction of each project in line with our in-house policies and procedures and associated wider industry standards.
- Working collaboratively with delivery partners and contractors to ensure that schemes are delivered on time.
- Maintaining compliance with WIMES standards, British and International Standards and professional codes of conduct.
- Drafting, vetting and approving pre-construction information, project programs, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and construction phase plans.
- Overseeing the commissioning, training and handover of completed projects to the operations teams.
- Ensuring that completion documents are available and handed over, including test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals, health and safety files, and as-constructed drawings.
- Have a background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Hold formal qualifications within these sectors. Ideally, holding at least an HNC or HND in a relevant discipline.
- Be fully compliant with CDM regulations and how to apply them.
- Hold IOSH Managing Safely in Construction Certification or equivalent.
- Have knowledge of Clean Water Processing, WIMES standards, and other relevant industry standards such as BS7671 and DSEAR.
- Hold excellent leadership, communication, coordination and team management skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously. This includes internal colleagues, site employees and external contractors.
- Understanding of Health and Safety standards, with particular reference to engineering/construction works, including CDM.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience managing MEICA projects, preferably within the water industry.
This role will require you to travel to multiple sites across Scotland, depending on the project that you are working on. You will be required to have a full driving licence.
- Working Hours – Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
