Principal Structural Engineer

Optimusplus is now looking for a Principal Structural Engineer/Analyst to join our team in Aberdeen on a full-time, employee basis. This role can be based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow office on a flexible hybrid working model where 2 days per week can be worked remotely.

• Perform structural analysis of jackets, topsides, and floating assets
• Support offshore operations, structural assurance, major projects, life extension, and decommissioning activities
• In-place analysis and code compliance assessments
• Fatigue and dynamic analysis
• Pushover, redundancy and boat impact analysis (advantageous but a mandatory requirement)
• Support wider group activities of Structural Integrity Management, Weight Control, and Decommissioning.
• Related Engineering Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Naval Architecture degree (B.Eng/M.Sc/P.hD)
• Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards chartership (preferred)

• High levels of proficiency in SESAM GeniE analysis packages (preferred)
• Experience in other industry standard analysis packages - Staad Pro, USFOS, ABAQUS and ANSYS (essential)
• Good understanding of structural linear and non-linear behaviour
• Good understanding of civil and structural drawing skills
• Knowledge of wave theory, wave kinematics, and Morison equation.
• Significant, demonstrable experience in detailed design engineering and engineering checking
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant oil & gas industry codes and standards (e.g., ISO, API, DNV, etc.)
• Detailed understanding of all engineering disciplines
• Understands the application of Autodesk Design products
• Competent in the use of MS Office applications
• Excellent written and spoken English
