Seaway7 – Senior HSE Engineer / Advisor
Location: Aberdeen, UK or Zoetermeer, Netherlands
Commitment: Full-time staff basis
As an HSE Engineer you will promote a proactive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture across onshore and offshore operations. You will support implementation and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System with legal and company standards, ensure safety and environmental compliance for complex lifting operations, manage occupational safety risks, lead incident investigations, and promote initiatives that enhance safety performance and operational integrity.
Responsibilities- Promote and embed the company's safety culture, including initiatives like Work Safe Home Safe.
- Support the implementation and improvement of HSE strategies and management systems across global operations.
- Act as a point of contact for HSE-related queries from internal teams and supply chain.
- Lead incident and near‑miss investigations using root cause analysis methodologies (e.g. Top Set, Taproot).
- Facilitate risk assessments, reviews, and HSE audits (internal and external).
- Support vessel management teams during dry‑docking, technical stops, and marine operations.
- Develop HSE Plans, Bridging Documentation, and Emergency Response Plans.
- Deliver HSE training, familiarisations, and awareness programmes.
- Monitor and report on HSE performance, trends, and supplier compliance.
- Maintain legal compliance registers and conduct site audits, monitoring safety installation and vessel equipment.
- Review worksite data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with project teams and HSE peers to ensure consistent standards and continuous improvement.
- Capture and apply lessons learned to improve safety across operations.
- Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in HSEQ or related field.
- NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent.
- ISO 45001 and/or ISO 9001 Auditor qualification and legal compliance and risk management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Offshore Wind, Heavy Lifting or Construction Projects or Maritime Sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK and international HSE legislation and quality standards.
- Experience with investigation tools and HSE case management systems (e.g. Synergi).
- Great communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to write clear and coherent reports and documentation.
- Membership in a professional body (e.g. IOSH).
- BOSIET and Offshore Medical (or ability to obtain).
- Familiarity with behavioural safety programmes and performance trend analysis.
