Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Designer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong general valve knowledge and experience in design techniques focused on service and equipment upgrades for valves and supporting equipment. The ability to perform calculations for pressure containment and mechanical loadings is highly desirable.
This is a mid-level role offering opportunities for professional growth and involvement in diverse projects.
Position:
Full-Time, Permanent.
- Review and validate vendor and customer technical documentation submissions, ensuring designs offered are compliant to customer and industry specification.
- Create 2D designs and drawings using Dassault Draft Sight; familiarity with Solid Works is advantageous. Draftsight is an AutoCAD based CAD package and experience in AutoCAD in lieu of Draftsight is appropriate for this role.
- Generate Bills of Material (BoM) and valve part specifications within our ERP system.
- Reverse engineer components using standard measuring and metrology equipment.
- Develop designs in compliance with national, international, and company standards.
- Produce detailed drawings for machining, weldments, assemblies, schematics, and arrangements.
- Perform basic design calculations for pressure containment and mechanical loading.
- Prepare technical reports for internal and customer use.
- Maintain document registers and ensure compliance with engineering procedures.
- Support cross-functional teams with technical expertise and attend project meetings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function.
- Knowledge of valves and/or oilfield equipment.
- Understanding of metallic and non-metallic materials used in sealing systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Effective communication skills for client-facing interactions.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and common oilfield engineering standards (API, ASME, ISO).
- Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in valve design or related mechanical design roles.
