This role involves executing planned maintenance, managing Level 1 modifications, and acting as a key interface between offshore operations and the onshore IT function. The Engineer is a key player in managing vendor activities and ensuring the integrity of safety-critical communication systems. Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Provides technical support for telecommunications systems, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for offshore assets and supporting investigations into equipment failures.
• Delivers detailed technical assessments, prepares scopes of work, and executes assigned Level 1 modifications for telecoms projects, acting as the Job Responsible Engineer (JRE) for vendor activities.
• Acts as a key interface to the onshore IT function, providing logistical support for network-related activities, offshore hardware refreshes, and the creation of associated work orders and permits.
• Supports the execution of the Asset Preventive Master Plan, manages ongoing maintenance schedules for telecoms equipment, and maintain Ensures all discipline work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and good engineering practice, actively playing a part in discipline-specific SECE management.
• Supports the management process for discipline-related safety-critical risks, carrying out risk assessments and maintaining awareness of the roles contribution to ensuring healthy discipline-specific asset barrier status.
• Provides support and awareness to offshore technicians regarding Cyber Security, including the importance of rapid response to threats.
• Supports discipline-specific technical reviews, such as Management of Change (MoC), by providing technical specifications, checking deliverables, and offering input for deferrals and technical queries' accurate system documentation.
• Contributes to the long-term offshore telecommunications strategy by undertaking feasibility studies and proposing technical improvements and innovations.
• Contributes to the technical management of discipline-specific contracts, builds effective relationships with service providers, and manages the renewal of essential licenses (e.g., OFCOM).
• Provides mentorship and technical guidance to offshore telecommunications technicians.
• Performs quality assurance checks on deliverables, shares lessons learned and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Undertakes regular offshore visits to witness work execution, support operational teams, and provide technical backfill when required. Professional Skills and Experience
• The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and apply it in the workplace
