Overview
Shaper/Caper are recruiting for the new role of Technical Manager. We’re an award-winning dance company creating playful, heartfelt, and socially engaged work across performance, participation, and digital platforms.
Purpose of the Role: The Technical Manager is a newly created role at Shaper/Caper, designed to support the delivery and development of the company’s touring and participatory activity. The role is primarily focused on the day-to-day technical delivery of 'Well Good', Shaper/Caper’s theatre-in-schools touring programme that has ran for 10 years and reached over 70k children. The role also supports the company’s wider programme of performances, participatory projects, and touring work.
The Technical Manager is responsible for planning, delivering, and maintaining all technical elements of the company’s work and provides on-tour technical operation, including sound, lighting, and video.
Responsibilities- Plan and undertake the technical delivery of performances.
- Lead get-ins, get-outs, and technical rehearsals, adapting setups for different performance spaces.
- Drive our van, operate lighting, video, and sound functions on tour and manage logistics for transporting and maintaining tech equipment and sets.
- Maintaining sets for Well Good and fixing issues as they arise.
- Provide technical support for rehearsals, filming, workshops, and participation events.
- Oversee the construction, installation and operation of all scenic, lighting and sound elements.

Location and
Terms:
Based in Dundee with touring across Dundee, Angus and Perth & Kinross.
Contract: 3-month fixed term contract with ambition to extend.
Salary: £5,600–£6,400 pro rata, depending on experience, (£28,000–£32,000 FTE), 0.8 FTE, 3-month fixed-term contract (30 hours per week).
Hours: 30 hours per week (full-time week is 37.5 hours).
